Hi, I’m Gabi

I’m a level designer and game development student at BUAS who believes that great level design is really just practical storytelling.
I love crafting spaces where mechanics feel natural and the environment itself tells you about the world—whether that’s through the flow of a level, a carefully placed narrative beat, or the way a room is shaped. My goal is always to create something memorable, something that sticks with players long after they’ve put down the controller.

What more?

Besides video games, well… I do more video games.

I play a variety of games for fun from simulations like The Sims, where I complete my interior design dreams, to MOBAs like League of Legends where I get reminded that there could always be worse teams out there…

Many of my evenings are taken over by campaigns of Dungeons and Dragons and Daggerheart, another TTRPG my friends and I play.
I have been swooped by the roll of the dice, and the beauty of getting lost in stories with minimal visual demonstrations for three years now. My favorite part about D&D is working as a group with the Game Master and creating a story together. That is something that I learned later about this game – that I have the power to impact the story as a player and through my character.
This lesson I brought over when I too led a campaign inspired by the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure universe.

The greatest challenge when GM-ing was certainly creating enticing sessions that involved all the players. I always attempted to engage each one of my four players and make exciting quests for them to follow. Here I was able to utilize my level and quest design skills, creating maps and scenarios, and feeding them information bit by bit, but the experience also helped me with my career and professional development. Being in a leading role in such a hobby gave me confidence in my work, and I was able to associate player experience and see my own goals for the games I was making clearer.

Lettuce that I grew in hanging pots

Additionally, I garden and I pride myself in a little balcony full of plants and flowers that I look after daily. I managed to grow a bush of strawberries that are now a year old, a set of seasonal plants that have regrown this year, and this year I planted poppies, lavender, seasonal plants (again) and lettuce.
