About Me
Hi, I’m Gabi. I am a game developer living in The Netherlands, but originally from
the Republic of Moldova.
I embarked on a long journey to make it to Western Europe to pursue my creative dreams, and I bring that same passion and dedication to every design I create.
My favorite part about level design is that I make the player experience a story regardless of the amount of narrative design applied. I believe spatial design should follow real life principles because the more intuitive the design, the better for the player.
I draw inspiration from human history and architecture, using them to create spaces that feel like living worlds. For me, a level is more than just a space—it's a world that tells its own story.
I'm a level designer because I love telling stories through spaces, from game flow to the smallest details on the walls.
My Design Pillars
Player Experience
First and foremost, the player experience needs to be achieved. A game is nothing without its audience and people are looking to get something out of the game we are creating. If that thing is not a fun experience, we failed somewhere.
Collaboration
Happy team means happy project. Regardless of the team’s size, collaboration and understanding must be present at the core of the crew. A team that doesn’t respect its members is doomed to fail. Resentment towards your coworkers translates toward the project and leaves a bad experience for everyone.
Feedback
Feedback is what I base my decisions off. Having my work reviewed by superiors, teammates and target audience brings me pleasure as every piece of feedback brings me closer to the best version my work can achieve. I encourage and request feedback on any important decision that impacts anyone besides myself.
